But that didn't work out because they did not want me to be seen with them. (They are teenagers...) SOOOOO.....I had to come up with a different use for them, so I tackled this project in the kitchen today. And I AM SO EXCITED about this halloween treat! I was inspired by a picture of gummy worms in green jello that I found on Pinterest, so I got to thinking...... What if? And how about? Oooh...that would be cool.... and so on and so on.... Okay...drumroll please.....
"Eye" Love Halloween Treats!
1 package unflavored gelatin (1/4 ounce)
1 large can of Mandarin Oranges
1/8th tsp salt
1/3 cup sugar
1 cup boiling water
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 package of gummy eyes
Open the can of mandarin oranges, drain, and reserve 1/2 cup of the juice.
Sprinkle the unflavored gelatin on top of the reserved 1/2 cup of juice to soften the gelatin.
Add sugar, salt, and boiling water and stir until thoroughly dissolved. Add lemon juice and stir.
Allow mixture to cool to room temperature.
Prepare the glasses or party cups by placing a mandarin orange slices in the cups.
Pour the gelatin mixture in cups or glasses.
Place a gummy eye in each party cup, or multiple eyes in larger glasses.
Chill in refrigerator until jelled.

Now, if these are too scary for you...here is another easy halloween treat.
Orange Cake Shooters
Prepare the instant pudding by the directions on the box, adding 1 teaspoon orange extract to pudding while stirring.
In small shot glasses (or can use a larger dessert dish) place a layer of cake, then a layer of pudding, and repeat as needed.
Top with a pumpkin gumball or maybe some candy corn, and that is it! Chill until ready to serve.
